Criminology is a course that encompasses law enforcement, forensic sciences, criminal sociology, criminological theories, criminal investigation, jurisprudence, and correctional administration. These are categorized into six areas covered in the criminology board examination. Institutional Correction is a subject covered under the area of Correctional Administration. This subject tackles all aspects of corrections of criminals in penal institutions such as jails and prisons. Institutional Correction specifically deals with the organization and operations of both the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP and the Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR) as well as the pertinent laws governing these institutions. This material was initially prepared as a supplemental if not main source of the needed basic knowledge for criminology students enrolled in the subject.
