The “Laboratory Manual in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry” is designed for courses with an integrated subject on Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. The initial activities cover the fundamentals of laboratory guidelines, glassware, apparatus, and chemical safety. These activities were designed to develop the basic laboratory skills of the students and inculcate in them a culture of laboratory safety consciousness. Furthermore, they will learn how to properly write a schematic diagram of experimental procedures and synthesize a scientific paper. The next set of activities focuses on experimental explorations in Inorganic Chemistry, particularly stoichiometry, gases, colligative properties, and acid-base chemistry. These experiments will enhance their skills in executing laboratory techniques, computational analysis, and graphical analysis. Finally, the last set of activities focuses on the essential concepts and experiments in Organic Chemistry, particularly organic functional groups and isomerism, distillation and solvent-solvent extraction, thin layer chromatography, the solubility of organic compounds, and the reactions of hydrocarbons, organic derivatives of water, carbonyl compounds, and carboxylic acids and their derivatives. These activities will help them identify and classify organic compounds, distinguish isomeric organic compounds, enhance their laboratory skills, and stimulate their critical thinking in identifying unknown organic compounds based on their qualitative reaction profile.
